This whole radio show was a Prayer Reading which turned out to be auspicious. Soon after, my radio show was picked up by New World Library, publisher of Eckhart Tolle's books, to interview newly published authors. For that, I will be eternally grateful!
A Prayer Reading is something I thought I would try on the radio show, to see if this practice would be a good one to continue in the future.
Prayer is a Universal Language. Certainly everyone in any religion or spiritual walk of life has the inner vision to pray, prayerfully. This practice has a humbling effect upon the psyche. It is a meditation. And meditation is also a prayer.
So Prayer Readings will become a regular spot on my radio show. The next one will be in the New Year.
I've been thinking of Nurse Healers, again, and resurrected this Nurse Healer Blog yesterday. I feel there's so much that is good about nurses and nursing, but many of my colleagues are so close to what they do that a larger perspective is lost. No one even considers that she might be a healer.
The un-healing climate of most hospitals and clinics might have something to do with it. These places have become a business and therefore, very business like. Naturally, an individual can choose to ignore the Corporate Takeover of Medicine and concentrate on calling in the angels with her patients. But to ignore the noise and the machines and the toxic medicines can be like living in an Ivory Tower of truthlessness. Something's got to give.
And that's the point: Giving. Giving of self for others selflessly. Negating the complaining. Rising above the drama. Being there only for patients and their families.
And rising above the potential for burnout. We've all experienced burnout at some time or another by taking too much on before we learn to say "no." Sudden crises at home can disturb equilibrium. All of this and more can help us to establish a greater sense of Self. Or lose all sense of Self. The choice is entirely ours but please know that we don't have to be a victim.
Unless you want to be.
Please God/ess help the Healers take heed of what needs to be done in the world. This is not the time to recede in a weakened position or condition. This is the time to own Personal Strength and Power.
This is the time to shine brightly, like the light upon the river or the most luminous Planet near a waxing moon. This may be the most exciting time that Humans have ever experienced in Linear History.
Dear Godess, The energy of prayer is not something that is "sent" and "received." We do not require that it go anywhere, because it is omnipresent: it exists everywhere. A prayer that is focused on a person or an animal halfway across the world is as powerful as a prayer that is focused on the family next door.
All energy exists in the now and it is not stronger or weaker the farther it goes. The energy of prayer is immediate, meaning that which is focused near or far is happening in the present moment, and happens simultaneously. This is how Quantum Physics describes the effects of prayer.
ESP and clairvoyance works in this way, as well. Naturally these explanations add to the mystery of how and why prayer works. We are satisfied that it does work, and as we learn to drop the need for rational explanations, we work more on the energy of Faith to pray, and to pray often.
Love, compassion and non-judgment set the foundation for prayer and its effects. A good time to pray is when you feel your buttons being pushed, and a resistance rising up to confront the "what is" of what is occurring in your life.
Why do we fight on the battleground of the mind? Why can't we detached and find that the battleground is not a fact but a figment of a made up illusion?
A good example for me is the Bush Era torture practices still employed now by the military. Obama could outlaw torture but he so far has not. Whenever I think of this, I lose all sense of balance or calm.
I am sure we all have our own push button hot points.
What do we do about these?
Pause and pray, asking the Divine to erase and clean the identity we cling to, and replace it with the Identity we aspire to.
Dear God/ess, I just got off the phone with our friend, Sheila Audet, Astrology's Astrologer. (She hates it when I call her that).
I delivered flowers to her house the other day to thank her for teaching our Customer Service Team how to do the Thriller Dance. I told her that our team was way over our head on that one, and if not for her guidance, we would never have been able to do it.
However, Sheila was still asleep when I delivered the flowers, and I was laughing and talking with her partner, Jo-an, whose presence in both of our lives is a loving gift.
Sheila thought I was my mother, as she drifted in and out of sleep. Years ago, Sheila came to visit my mother at 9 am every morning and they discussed what Sheila was learning, Astrologically speaking. It happened to be 9 am when I arrived to Sheila and Jo-an's house and Sheila was transported in "time" to my mother's round kitchen table at my family home across the town where we still live. Certain experiences have a certain timeless feeling to them. Those times around my mother's table were an example of infinite infinity. I never thought my mother would ever die, and even now, I doubt if she ever did, esoterically speaking. I never thought my dog Mukunda would ever die, either. Why is it we think certain experiences will never end?
As we age, the impermanence of time begins to enlighten our perspective. We realize that all of our moments are precious, and we fully live them in the moments we have left.
But I still have a difficult time accepting death.
Now that I've admitted it, I can now fully release it to the angels for healing.
Dear God/ess, On MoonMooYou: The Collective Wisdom this week, I loudly proclaimed to my guest, Joel Wechsler, that I was 100% against Capitol Punishment. A society that kills people as a punishment is not modeling a redemptive example to our children and grandchildren. A society that kills animals and people is not going to convince anyone to do the right thing.
We have a strictly punitive criminal justice system here in this country. What happens to a person who has not committed murder, and is locked up for years, treated like an animal without rehabilitation and then released to an unsuspecting population? How does this serve anyone, the person who committed the crime and the people s/he must go forth and co-mingle with?
The American tax-payer subsidizes this barbaric and medieval system of so called justice, which in fact creates more criminals. When society judges a person on the worst thing s/he ever did in his (or her) life, there is very little room for redemption.
Since 1973, 138 Americans have been convicted of murder and sentenced to death and subsequently exonerated, that is found to be innocent of their crime. An untold number have been put to death, claiming to be innocent. Many people have lost respect for bureaucrats and politicians these days because they commit crimes and escape punishment. If our government is indeed convicting and killing innocent people, how can We The People continue to allow these atrocities to continue?
How can we redeem our social humanitarian values from the ashes of a system that no longer serves the Common Good?
Today over half the countries of the world have abolished the Death Penalty, while we continue to execute folks at a rate unparalleled at any other time in American History.
So we take personal responsibility. We face the truth of our broken system and become honest and integrated people. In this process, we discover our inner grace and ability to forgive.
Dear God/ess, The Thriller Dance we did for our Customer Service presentation is finally up on You Tube, and is shown here.
In truth, I could do the Thriller Dance all day long. There is something exhilarating about mastering a dance routine on the caliber of a Michael Jackson original, although we dumbed it down to make the whole experience less overwhelming.
Our friend Sheila Audet, aka Astrology's Astrologer, helped us as we got our bearings on what the hell we were supposed to do. Sheila danced since she was young. When she discovered she was a choreographer, the world of dance blossomed forth to give new meaning to her life.
But that was a whole other lifetime ago. Maybe two.
I gained new respect for Michael Jackson through the process of learning to do this dance. Suffice to say, he was a little understood genius. It is possible to get a glimpse of his genius. All you have to do is dance like Michael Jackson dances! It's not as easy as it looks.
The rest of the Customer Service Presentation was an exercise in helping staff to think differently about what happens in all aspects of their lives. My theory is that a shift in thinking comes about when we take personal responsibility for loving and living rather than fearing and fretting.
We used Team Hoyt, (a father, Dick Hoyt, who pushes his son, Rick Hoyt, in a wheelchair in marathons and triathlons across the country), as a living example of love and the ability to overcome odds that seemingly most people are not willing to undertake. Suddenly it occurred to me that gracefullady aka Mary McManus must know this family, who after all, live in Boston and run the Boston Marathon, just like Mary does. This was one of those skin tingling synchronicities, because Mary does know the family well. It must be fun to live in Boston with all of that enthusiasm for running the Boston Marathon!
We used a simple example of a smilein our Customer Service Presentation. Imagine what it feels like to honestly feel like smiling, like laughing, and giving this as a gift to everyone you meet in the world. You can fake it until you make it, as far as a smile goes, but what I am talking about is an honest smile, an authentic smile, a smile that feels the earth and the heavens smiling with you.
These customer service sessions are truly inspiring to the people who show up. For me, it inspires me to walk the walk, to love every patient I am honored to take care of. Those nurses who recoil at an assignment, for instance, are crying "Burnout" to everyone they meet. Our presentations are designed to prevent so-called burnout. But those who are truly burned out never show up to these performances.
Dear God/ess, The Mechano Magic is evolving with breath and loving intention as I proceed to give Ulysses Mechano treatments several times a day, which he loves.
All of your prayers and thoughts of love also work as energizing agents. Within this Squidoo Lens lies another healing secret. See if you can find it. Email me privately with any questions you may have about it.
The Mechano Magic is most effective if done in a spirit of prayer. Choose your favorite prayer. Then with each in and out breath, during the Mechano, the prayer is inwardly chanted and whispered to the recipient of the healing touch.
Heal as Jesus heals. My friend Jala read a prayer to me the other night , which said that the breath of the Christ heals when we release the ego and humbly invite the saints in to the inner sanctity of our beings. Only then does true healing occurs.
Jesus was the greatest healer of all, yet so little was written about His healing power. So we prayer, "Dear God, help me to heal as Jesus heals."
My favorite prayer for doing the Mechano is the Our Father. In breath: Our Father--Out breath: Who art in heaven-In breath: Hallowed Be Thy Name. And so on.
Dear God/ess, On this beautiful Thanksgiving Day, we look back over the year and give thanks for all of our answered prayers. We give thanks for the unanswered prayers, too.
Where were we one year ago? For all of us prayerfully reading Prayer To Heal and commented, you can track your odyssey by looking back over your comments, here.
Read your journals. A journal is a reflection of your unique journey through this lifetime. This day is the beginning of a season of joyful communion and also is a time to pull inwardly as we track where we've been and now envision the next leg of our destiny. The nights grow longer and we can use this "time" to contemplate the moments which expand to encompass all of eternity. The short days and ever lengthening nights are now ours for the creation of inner resilience and courage. These moments in time last until the Solstice when the days grow longer, again. What a miracle!
Use this time for your solitude. Resist the distractions of materialism, and empty yourself of all anticipation of future events.
'Tis the season to fill yourself with tranquillity by the simple act of prayer and meditation. In these moments, as you expand into the quiet times, you come to know the true meaning of Grace, not by reading about it, not by discussing it, but by experiencing it.
This season IS an exercise in Grace and the quiet contemplation of the Love we have in the here and now.
Her book, "Choosing Easy World" was published this year and we will be discussing and experiencing the concepts in her book. Julia will teach us how to consciously choose Easy World over the mindset of resistance, struggle and strife. I think Julia would agree that we aspire to Easy World right here on the Pray To Heal Blog, and everyday, we manage to sustain it.
In the process of fixing up this Pray To Heal Blog, which is an exercise in reflection, contemplation and naturally, prayer, I came to the realization that taken as a whole, what is contained here is a stand alone spiritual practice. Each entry is a jewel placed in the heart of all human kind, as well as the trees, beasts and stones.
Yet isn't that what our kindred souls here on the Internet and elsewhere are all successfully achieving? We reach out to all souls everywhere and encourage a letting go of all that has gone before.
That leaves all of us right here in the Present Moment, the only true reality and preferred place to be.
We are exactly where we are supposed to be. This is exactly what the word and celebration of "Thanksgiving" is all about. We gather together with family and friends and experience the true meaning of communing: communing with Self, with spirit, and the preciousness of those who are with us today.
We cherish the moment and surrender as we move on to the next breath, the next step, the next Holy Peace of the season.
Because President Obama did not exclude the Health Insurance Companies from his Health Care Reform Plan, we cannot call what we have in this country health care reform.
