I have been contemplating Unexamined Codependency in the nursing profession, today.
Fortunately the time has come to face this traditional nursing way of Being, and in facing it straight on, we disarm the monster that haunts the nursing psyche.
A nursing colleague of mine told me that the unit was so busy yesterday, that no one got to eat or drink. When the nurse said she wanted to take a break to drink some water, the response was: No one else is getting a break.
The martyr syndrome, the poor me I am suffering, I have more to do and I don't need any help because I can do it better than you syndrome-- is alive and well in the nursing arena where some of us still choose to play.
Except because of this all prevailing attitude, it isn't any fun, anymore.
So what is the solution? Map out the nursing psyche and call it what it is-- the wounded healer, the unrepentant codependent, the abused warrior whom even God has forsaken.
Turn it around? God has not forsaken me, I have forsaken myself.
Turn that around? I will take care of myself before taking care of anyone else. I say a prayer to do this.
The Nurses Prayer: O Great Creator, thank you for pointing me in the direction of my Soul calling: to love myself by nurturing myself before I attempt to nurture anyone else. Thank you for giving me the sense of humor to laugh at all the great ironies of life. Thank you for helping me to heal my life with a laugh and a Prayer.
Om Peace Amen
My book now has a cover!! That is huge in the book world, and I am happy to have one. This week, I will get focused about editing the book itself. I will launch the book around my Solar Return, 3/1/2012.
Right now, I am sitting at the hospital in the Labor and Delivery Unit at 4 am. The alarms on the fetal monitoring system alarm occasionally. Watching fetal monitors on big screen TVs all night long is one way to make a living, and a loving, too.
Here is to Living and Loving.

The Amanda Trujillo RN case prompted me to resurrected my Nurse Healer Blog. Amanda was fired for giving information about a Liver Transplant consult to her patient. This does not bode well for the patients of the world, for nurses, the majority of whom are women, or for the Health Care System.
Nurses are bullied by doctors, nurse administrators, Big Pharma and the Health Insurance Companies, all because Corporations have taken over health care.
Is this what you thought would happen when you entered the nursing profession?
Therapeutic Touch Revisited.
When is proof a detriment to healing?
When does the Science Of Medicine interrupt the Art Of Medicine?
Is it possible to create a marriage between the Art and the Science?
Why Not?
Why Indeed?

Ulysses Saved By The Singing Voice.
One of the remedies that worked to bring Ulysses back from a certain death in January, 2011– was singing directly to him. Aeva Wheet, one of my radio show guests, animal lover and healer, suggested that I do this.
The video shows the subtlety of his innate ability to bring the singing somewhere deep within himself. You can see it if you watch his aura or etheric being.
Ulysses The Dog deeply loves to be sung to. He seems to especially like it if his name is woven into the words of the song.
If you have a sick dog, sing to him or her. It helped me to believe I was doing something for him and that I still can help him everyday of the rest of his life.
I am the author of the upcoming book, " Prayer Prescriptions: Spiritual Remedies For Long Lasting Health."
